I'm not sure what this means, exactly, as the figure for Alcohol consumption / Binge drinkers seems to indicate the prevalence of a drinking "style" in a state and ranges from states where less of the alcohol consumption is done by binge drinkers to states where more of the alcohol consumed seems to be consumed by people who tend to drink larger amounts at a single seating.

The high consumption by binge drinkers style seems to be negatively correlated (r= -.39) with the rate of firearm deaths per 100,000.

This suggests that, perhaps, where the "style" of drinking involves drinking a larger amount at a single sitting, there is also a lifestyle that results in a higher rate of firearm deaths in the population of that state.
